To Protect and Serve
Gunman blocks NY center's door, kills 13, self, Associated Press Writer William Kates, Sat., Apr 4, 2009.
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – A gunman barricaded the back door of a community center with his car and then opened fire on a room full of immigrants taking a citizenship class Friday, killing 13 people before apparently committing suicide, officials said. …This is outrageous malfeasance on the part of the officers involved. Apparently they are more concerned with protecting themselves rather than the citizens they supposedly "serve", and their idea of the proper response is to barricade the site and wait for the gunman to run out of ammunition. This is the best argument for concealed carry that I have seen in a long time — citizens cannot depend on the police and so must be willing and able to defend themselves.
Police said they arrived within two minutes. …
Police heard no gunfire after they arrived but waited for about an hour before entering the building to make sure it was safe for officers.
